3-day holiday to cause further delay
Mumbai: Looks like the results of the final year degree college students of the University of Mumbai (MU) would be even more delayed, as majority teachers involved in the assessment procedure will be off for a mini vacation of three to four days on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi. Unlike during the festive occasions like Parsi New Year and Janmashati and also Independence Day where the teachers were requested to go to their CAP centers to assess the papers, for the Ganesh festival, no such thing will be done.
Around 9,000 answer sheets are assessed on a daily basis by the teachers all over Mumbai. This means, considering the three day holiday, around 27,000 answer papers will be at loss.
Furthermore, MU’s new acting Controller of Examination (CoE) Arjun Ghatule on August 19 assured that all the major results would be declared by August 23 did not happen. Only the results of Bachelors in Science (B.Sc), Bachelors in Arts (B.A), First year Engineering (FE), Masters in Science (M.Sc) and Bachelors in Management Studies (BMS) are out till date. Major results like LLB are yet to be declared.
1,20,601 answer sheets are yet to be assessed out of which 48,834 belongs to the Commerce stream (regular) and 68,446 belong to Commerce of IDOL (Institute of Distance and Open Learning). MU said it has strived to declare all the results by August 31 but IDOL’s results will take extra 5-6 days.
