Will quit govt if issues aren’t resolved: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai: In an attempt to align himself with farmers’ issues, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has once again said that he would walk out from the state government if they are not resolved. The statement was made in Kolhapur on the first day of Mr Thackeray’s western Maharashtra tour. The Sena chief also slammed the state government over a range of issues including farm loan waiver and economic distress.

Mr Thackeray has been slamming the BJP through the party mouthpiece Saamana as well as his rallies and the direction his tour is taking seems to be no different.

“In an ideal state, farmers should use pesticides but here, we need to advise them to use the same carefully. Sadly, farmers are dying in Vidarbha but nobody seems sensitive enough,” he said while on tour. He held the state government responsible for apathy towards farmers’ issues.

Raising the loan waiver issue, Mr Thackeray said, “How many farmers got the waiver? Very few. Sena has been demanding a waiver for all. We will not rest until it is done.” Mr Thackeray went on to say the Sena would walk out from the state government if it failed to address real issues.

Speaking about his recent meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Mr Thackeray said, “It was decided that this meeting would be kept secret. But now, Mr Pawar himself meets chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. As they say issues in cricket were the reason behind both leaders meeting. Farmers are dying on the field and these people are talking cricket.”
