Mumbai: Additional Chief Secretary (Finance),  D. K. Jain will take over as the new Chief Secretary (CS), superseding two senior additional chief secretaries (ACs), Medha Gadgil and Sudhir Shrivastava.

The current chief secretary, Sumit Mullick, will be appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), as part of a major reshuffle expected to take place soon in the upper echelons of the state bureaucracy, said sources.

The post of the CIS has been vacant for the past few months and the Bombay high court (HC) has asked the government to fill it immediately because of an increase in the pendency of the work.
