Student stabbed to death by two youth in Manpada
Mumbai: Manpada police early on Wednesday arrested two college students, Vignesh Sarkate (20) and Yogesh Jaiswal (19), for allegedly stabbing to death a male B.Com. student (20) of a Dombivali-based college on suspicions that he was in a relationship with the former girlfriend of one of the two accused.
Both the arrested accused and the victim, Pranay More, are students of South Indian Association College of Manpada Dombivali. An officer from Manpada police station said, “The victim was just a friend of accused Sarkate’s ex-girlfriend however Sarkate thought that More was trying to get into a relationship with his girl. Hence, Sarkate decided to teach More a lesson. Meanwhile, the other accused, Jaiswal, belongs to the same group as Sarkate. Jaiswal said that he got angry after More deliberately pushed him while he was returning home on Tuesday after which Sarkate and Jaiswal decided to stab More.”
More was chatting with his college group in front of the college at around 12pm when Sarkate and Jaiswal approached him and started stabbing him. “They stabbed him continuously 10 to 12 times. Then both of them left the victim on the floor and fled on a bike. More was immediately shifted to a private hospital for treatment by college security, teachers and some students but was declared dead due to heavy bleeding,” said a senior police inspector Gajanan Kabdule from Manpada police station.
Sources said, “More’s parents are working in a private firm. They were in the office when they came to know about the incident. They just collapsed after hearing it.” Suresh More, father of the victim who attended a parents-teachers meeting two days prior to the incident claimed that he was unaware that such an incident could occur.
