Prakash Ambedkar not allowed to hold rally

The police has allowed the protesters instead to protest at Azad Maidan itself.

Mumbai: The Mumbai police has denied permission to Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) president Dr Prakash Ambedkar to hold an ‘elgaar rally’, in connection with the January 1 violence at Pune’s Bhima-Koregaon region, from Ranibaug to Azad Maidan on Monday. The police has allowed the protesters instead to protest at Azad Maidan itself. Protesters led by Mr Ambedkar have been demanding the arrest of right-wing leader Sambhaji Bhide alias Bhide Guruji for his alleged involvement in the violence.

“Protesters can protest at Azad Maidan but they are not allowed to take out rally from Rani Bagh to Azad Maidan,” said DCP Deepak Deoraj, spokesperson of the Mumbai Police.
