Pink autos to finally ply in Mira-Bhayandar

Symbolic keys were handed to the beneficiaries at a function held to mark the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8.

Mumbai: More than six months after gathering dust, pink auto-rickshaws purchased by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) will finally ply on the city’s roads.

Eight compressed natural gas (CNG) powered pink autos were handed over to women beneficiaries by mayor Dimple Mehta and Women and Child Welfare Committee (WCWC) chief Shanu Gohil in the presence of legislator Narendra Mehta at the MBMC’s main administrative building in Bhayandar on Tuesday.

To transform the living standards of underprivileged women, the BJP headed-WCWC had chalked out an elaborate plan of distributing 100 CNG-powered pink autos.
