Gas cylinder blast kills 55-year-old
Mumbai: A 55-year-old woman was killed when a wall of a house collapsed due to a gas cylinder blast in Thane. The incident happened near Ambedkar road on Tuesday where in other than the deceased, four others were injured.
According to the information by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), four occupants of the house, where the cylinder exploded, received burn injuries. The victims include two women and a 12-year-old boy, who were undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
“The cylinder exploded around 9.30 am in a single storey house in Panchpakhadi area. Due to the explosion, one of the walls of the house fell on an adjacent house,” Thane civic body’s regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam said.
As soon as the TMC got information about the incident, the police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot. Sandeep Kakade (40), Himanshu Kakade (12), Vandana Kakade (50) and Latika Kakade (35) are the names of the injured. The injured have been admitted to civil hospital.
The cylinder blast also affected the adjacent hou-se. Kantibai Wankhede, who resided in the adjacent house, suffered serious injuries in the wall collapse mishap. She was rushed to the civil hospital. However soon the do-ctors declared her dead.
