TISS students continue to protest
Government of India-Post Matriculation Scholarship, which is applicable for those belonging to socially backward classes.
Mumbai: The protest at the Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) over the withdrawal of funds entered its sixth day on Monday. The students of the institute have written a letter to Prakash Javadekar, Union HRD minister, asking him to roll back the decision to withdraw financial assistance and scholarships to students of the socially backward classes such as SCs, STs and OBCs.
The protest occurred after the TISS administration announced that it would charge canteen and hostel fees to everyone including students who have got the Government of India-Post Matriculation Scholarship, which is applicable for those belonging to socially backward classes.
