Medical intern tries to end life, critical

Mumbai: A 29-year-old male medical intern with the state-run JJ Hospital, who was receiving psychiatric treatment for depression, attempted suicide by jumping off from the third floor of the R.M. Bhatt hostel, where he resides.

The intern, Dr Triratn Wathore, suffered severe head injuries and fractures on his leg and has been admitted to the hospital’s critical care unit. Doctors attending on him said his condition was ‘critical’.

The JJ Marg police, who are probing the incident, have not registered any kind of complaint as yet. According to hospital authorities, the intern had attempted suicide in the past as well. A source also claimed the intern had allegedly received treatment for drug de-addiction. The medical superintendent of JJ Hospital, Dr Sanjay Surase,said, “Some of his friends brought him to the causality department in an  unconscious state with grievous head injury.”
