Id-ul-Fitr celebrated across the state with joy and love
Mumbai: Marking the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour across Maharashtra while also ensuring that no noise pollution was caused as requested by some religious organisations and prayer leaders.
The organisations also requested people to celebrate humbly in the backdrop of the attempted terrorist attack in the holy city of Mecca in Saurdi Arabia on Saturday.
Despite the heavy cloud cover on Saturday evening and the crescent moon being invisible, Muslims across the state went by the announcement of the Hilaal Committee decision that Id would be celebrated on Monday.
The day started with the traditional Id prayers that were held across the state at the stipulated places. The prayers gained importance as the sermons implored devotees to exercise restraint and maintain the decorum that they observed during the entire month of fasting.
The sermons also decried the attempted terrorist attack at Mecca and condemned terror outfits like ISIS. In fact, Raza Academy had also sent out a request to devotees to tone down celebrations.
After the prayers, revellers visited each others homes and greeted them and consumed Sheer Khurma to commemorate the completion of the month long abstinence from sins and being involved in worship and prayers. Boys and girls, young and old alike donned new clothes as a mark of being absolved of all their sins during the month of fasting and visited each other’s homes.
Governor of Mahara-shtra and Tamil Nadu greeted Muslim devotees on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr. Political leaders across party lines also wished revellers on the joyous occasion. Bolly-wood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also greeted their fans at their respective residences in Bandra as hundreds gathered to catch a glimpse of their heartthrobs. As the sky gods held back in most part of the city and state, families ventured out in the evenings with youngsters taking the opportunity to whiz on their motorcycles with scant regard for the law.
