Natives bid farewell to family killed in cable car
Nagpur: A pall of gloom has descended upon the city over the tragic death of four of its natives who were killed in a cable car crash in Gulmarg in Jammu & Kashmir.
Professor Jayant Andraskar (42), his wife Manisha, and their two daughters Anagha and Jhanvi, were killed in the accident in Kashmir. Their mortal remains were brought to the city by a service flight via New Delhi and consigned to the flames at a local crematorium.
Professor Andraskar worked in New Delhi and had gone to Kashmir for a vacation with his family when the tragedy occurred. It came as a rude shock for his kin in the city as the deceased was someone who always checked the security features of any vehicle or gadget before using it. Family members and friends visited Professor Andraskar’s Chakradhar Nagar home in the south eastern part of the city to pay their last respects. “How could this happen to someone whose main concern was the safety of his family and friends,” said a sobbing member of the family.
Professor Andraskar had last posted on Facebook about being at a hotel in Pahalgam and “feeling peaceful” with his family. Manisha’s younger brother Sourabh said he last met his elder sister, a qualified architect-turned-homemaker, at his wedding in May, and was looking forward to meeting Manisha and her family after they returned on June 28. Professor Andraskar used to teach in a city college before shifting base to Delhi.
