CM Fadnavis met senior party leaders to pacify situation
Mumbai: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis called for a meeting of seniors ministers and party leaders on Thursday night at education minister Vinod Tawde’s residence ‘Seva Sadan’ to brainstorm over the ongoing Maratha reservation issue. He has involved senior party leaders in the decision making process to pacify the current situation in the state. The government will keep 16 per cent posts vacant for the Maratha community and provide reservations to SC, ST, and OBC in the mega recruitment drive of filling 72,000 posts.
Meanwhile, pressure has been mounting on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as dalits, minorities and now the Maratha community are against the party. The party leadership is mulling over few strategies to connect with these communities, considering the upcoming elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah are upset over the fact that there are no signs of the issue being under control. Hence Mr Fadnavis has been asked to take steps at party level, said sources.
On party level, Mr Fadnavis asked senior ministers and MLAs to meet the local leaders of the maratha community and communicate about the efforts done by the government. Party plans to celebrate ‘Samvidhan Din’ on a large scale.
Now Maratha stir also shaken the party as after dalit, if this major vote bank would remain upset with bjp, then party would suffer in the upcoming elections. So party is taking the steps to cool down the situation, said senior BJP minister.
