Congress leaders, including Mumbai chief Sanjay Nirupam, were taken into custody at Bandra Kurla Complex.

Congress has declared protests against the Union government’s move to send Mr Verma on leave. Congress has called it a decision an attempt by the government to save its skin with regards to the Rafale scam.

So, Mumbai Congress leaders gathered at Kalina, and they were about to reach the CBI office when the police detained them.

Former Member of Parliament Priya Dutt, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Ashish Dua, Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap, former MLC Charanjit Singh Sapra and others were detained and taken to the Bandra Kurla Complex police station.

“The Modi government knows that its corruption in the Rafale deal is now exposed. It just wants to save its skin by not allowing the

Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the issue. Mr Verma was about to start an investigation when this action of sending him on leave came. So, it’s a clearcut attempt to kill the country’s premier investigative agency. Congress will not allow this to happen,” alleged Mr Nirupam after the protest.
