Approach government with plaints against Metro: Bombay HC to citizens
Mumbai: The Bombay high court has directed the H-West ward citizens trust to approach the appropriate authority for redressal of their request to make the Metro 2B project underground. The court said that if the authority failed to take cognisance of the grievance of the petitioner only then they should approach the court. The trust has filed a public interest litigation claiming that as the Metro 2B line would be passing through the already crowded areas of Bandra. The trust claimed the elevated line would cause further problems of traffic and hence the court should constitute a committee that would corroborate their claims.
A division bench of justices A.S. Oka and P.N. Deshmukh was hearing the petition. The bench was informed by the petitioner’s advocate Zubin Kamdin about the inconvenience the residents of H-West ward would have to undergo when work on the Metro 2B line started. He prayed that in light of this the court may pass an order directing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority to take necessary steps to construct and implement the proposed Metro Line 2B project underground instead of an elevated corridor with elevated stations.
