BJP trampling on Constitution: Congress
Mumbai: State Congress chief and Nanded MP Ashok Chavan on Samvidhan Divas asked party workers to unite and overthrow the ruling BJP-led government at the Centre and in the state as well to safeguard the Constitution.
Addressing party workers after unfurling the national flag at the Congress office on the 70th Republic Day, the Congress state president said the BJP is trampling on the Constitution and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started a dictatorship in the country. Therefore, his government should be ousted, he said, adding that the party should come to the power to safeguard the Constitution and country as well.
Mr Chavan said, “The Congress government has to be brought in to safeguard the Constitution. Party workers should get to work now to bring us in power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is behaving like a dictator. The ruling party is trying to create social unrest for political gain.”
He added that attempts are being made to break Constitutional institutions and that ruling parties are trying to disturb social harmony for political benefit.
Mr Chavan alleged that since the BJP government came to power, atrocities against dalits and minorities have increased considerably.
The Nanded MP said the party is running a campaign, the Jansangharsh Yatra, against the “anti-people government of the Shiv Sena and BJP”.
The campaign ended recently after traversing 6,500 km across the state.
Congress leaders Arif Naseem Khan, Eknath Gaikwad and Rajya Sabha MP Hussain Dalwai, among others, were present on the occasion.
