Fans keep sorrowful vigil outside Sridevi's residence

Fans were completely devastated as they awaited the arrival of Sridevi's body.

Mumbai: Three days after the sudden demise of actor Sridevi in a hotel in Dubai, her fans are yet to get over the shock and the realisation that she is no more, even as they flocked to her Green Acres apartment in Andheri and the Versova-based Bhagya bungalow to catch a glimpse of her mortal remains.

The two locations were abuzz with unconfirmed information that her body would be brought there from Dubai on Tuesday after which her funeral and last rites would be performed. Since Tuesday morning, a constellation of celebrities including actors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone paid visit at the Andheri bungalow of Sridevi’s brother-in-law actor Anil Kapoor to offer their condolences to the Kapoor family in its hour of grief.

Fans were weeping as they held placards with messages that read “We will miss you Sridevi”, “This was not your time to leave so soon” and “Come back Sri”. Sridevi’s funeral will be held on Wednesday.

A police official said on the condition of anonymity that several security personnel have been deployed outside Sridevi’s residence in Mumbai and the arrangements are made stringent by the passing hour with several fans gathering outside to catch one last glimpse of the first female superstar of the film industry.

Several actors such as Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Karisma Kapoor visited Anil Kapoor’s residence where the entire family, including daughters Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor are awaiting the mortal remains of the actor.
