5 per cent water cut in western suburbs
Mumbai: There will be five per cent water cut across the city’s western suburbs and a few parts of the island city on Wednesday, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Officials from the civic body stated that the water cut will be implemented for the day due to the testing and commissioning of a 2.5-mw vertical solar power generation plant in Bhandup Complex.
“The expansion work in the old pumping station in Bhandup will be carried out between 8 am and 10 am. It includes installation of two vacuum circuit breakers at the site,” said an official from the water department of the BMC.
As such, water supply will be curtailed in areas such as Colaba, Nariman Point, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Worli, Dadar, Mahim and Dharavi. Also the entire western suburbs will be affected which includes areas from Bandra to Dahisar.
The BMC supplies water to citizens after treating water at various treatment plants. One of such treatment plant is in Bhandup Complex where the mentioned commissioning work will be carried out for the day.
“It is advisable to store water in the early morning. This will be a one-day thing. The water supply will be normal from Thursday,” added the BMC official.
