Court extends custody of Farooq Takla
Mumbai: A special TADA court on Friday extended the police custody of Farooq Yasin Mansoor alias Farooq Takla till May 2 in connection with the 1992 JJ shootout case. The shootout was part of the vengeance by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim against those who had bumped killed his brother-in-law Ibrahim Parkar.
According to the police, Takla who lived in the vicinity of the hospital, had played a key role in sheltering the shooters before and after the shootout. He has been booked for aiding and abetting the shootout.
On Friday Takla was produced before the court again after his custody was over. The investigating officers, sought further custody for him as the investigating agency needed some more time to carry out further investigation. Takla’s lawyer Farhana Shah opposed further grant of police custody. After hearing the arguments the judge extended his police custody till May 2.
