Shiv Sena takes Metro-III route to take a dig at BJP
Mumbai: Taking a dig at the BJP, the Shiv Sena on Tuesday said that that the ongoing Metro III project works across the city could be dangerous for people during the monsoons. “They are digging pits for the Metro III project almost everywhere in the city. There is a possibility of rainwater getting accumulated in these huge pits. What if someone falls in it? Who will be responsible for it?” asked Shiv Sena group leader Yashwant Jadhav.
The construction work of Metro III project is being carried out across various places in the city. The 33.5-km project, which will be underground from Colaba to Bandra and Seepz in Andheri – is one of the BJP’s most ambitious projects. “The BMC is told to stop all road repair works in the city before the arrival of monsoon, but the Metro authorities have been given a free hand for digging,” said Mr Jadhav.
Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar said that the same rules should be applicable to Metro works and digging activity should not be allowed.
This is not the first time that the Shiv Sena has objected to the construction of Metro III project. The party has refused to budge from its opposition to the setting of the Metro carshed at Aarey Colony, Goregaon. Sena claims it will extensively damage the green cover.
