Mumbai University teachers finally get respite from extra work

MU on Thursday passed a circular stating to extend the non-instructional days leave for the faculties of Arts, Law and Commerce.

Mumbai: Even as several Mumbai University (MU) teachers are complaining about being made to conduct lectures as well as assessment of final year papers, the MU on Thursday passed a circular stating to extend the non-instructional days leave for the faculties of Arts, Law and Commerce in order to complete their assessment work within the deadline of July 31.

In the circular, the Board of Examinations and Evaluation Deepak Wasave appreciated the hard work of the faculty members for completing nearly 95 per cent of the assessment process of the department of arts and management. However, the assessment work of the department of law and commerce are yet to be done hence their teachers have been granted to extend non-instructional days of leave from July 28 to 31.

The on-screen marking (OSM) is a digital way of assessing the answer sheets, which was adopted by the varsity in the month of April this year in order to create a transparent and an no-error system for the betterment of the students. In the process, the teachers and the examiners will assess all the final year students’ answer sheets of the students from the MU affiliated colleges, online.
