Girl rescued by the police in nick of time

18-yr-old teenager is saved from getting raped in Ambernath.

Mumbai: Mahatma Phule Kalyan police officials late on Saturday rescued an 18-year-old girl from her alleged abductors when they were about to rape her in an isolated place in Ambernath. The abductors had allegedly kidnapped the girl after she refused to have sexual relations with them when they threatened her that they would circulate her nude, morphed, photographs on social media.

The police tracked the girl using the signal on her mobile phone. The girl was saved in time because before leaving home to meet the accused, she had asked her sister to alert their parents and the police if she did not return on time.

The accused have been identified as Gautam Singh (23) and Aslam Khan (22), residents of Kalyan near Murbad Road. They had allegedly been stalking the girl over the past few months but the girl could not alert her father about them as he was “very strict”, the police said.

The investigating officer of the case, police inspector B. Dharane said, “According to the complainant, after she refused to have any relationship with the accused, both accused started following her, visiting her college and tuition classes. The girl last month threatened the duo that she would complain to her parents and their family about their behaviour.”

He said, “They called her to meet on Saturday and she met them on the highway. They offered her spiked cold drink. She started feeling dizzy, after which the accused took her to the isolated place.” He added, “They beat up her badly and were about to rape her when our team of officials reached the spot and arrested them.”

The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections related to stalking and kidnapping and sections of the Information Technology Act.
