Mumbai to receive moderate rainfall: IMD

Temperatures will also fall slightly over all these areas.

Mumbai: Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Mumbai in the next 48 hours. The city saw almost no rainfall last week. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the intensity of rain would increase in the city. However, the possibility of heavy rainfall has been ruled out.

During the last 24 hours since 8.30 am on Sunday, the Santacruz observatory of Mumbai recorded 8.8mm of rainfall, while the Colaba observatory recorded 7.8mm of rains. “A few spells of light to moderate rain are likely to occur in the city and suburbs. However, chances of heavy rainfall are unlikely,” said an IMD official.

According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, due to the off-shore trough from South Gujarat to Karnataka Coast, moderate to heavy rains will be seen over Konkan and Goa with light to moderate rains expected over Madhya Maharashtra. Temperatures will also fall slightly over all these areas.

“Maharashtra has witnessed good rainfall in the last 24 hours. All thanks to multiple weather systems persisting in proximity to the state, which have caused such weather activities over Maharashtra,” read the report by Skymet Weather. The maximum temperature would be recorded around 28 degrees Celsius and humidity around 86 per cent.
