Mumbai: Peter Mukerjea, an accused in the 2002 Sheena Bora murder case, on Tuesday moved an application before a special CBI court seeking permission to operate his bank locker in order to hand over ornaments belonging to his wife Indrani according to the consented terms of their divorce petition.

Peter’s lawyer Amit Ghagh moved the application before special CBI judge J.C. Jagdale requesting the court to allow Peter to operate his bank locker. In the application a request has been made on behalf of Peter seeking directions for the concerned jail authorities to make arrangements for him to visit the bank and operate his locker for the said purpose.

Peter and Indrani are seeking divorce by mutual consent and have filed divorce petition in Bandra family court in September this year. They are seeking dissolution of marriage as per Hindu Marriage Act.

Peter’s application said that they have executed consent term, agreeing to mutually settle the dispute and also exchange the articles belonging to each other and as per the consent Peter has to handover the articles belonging to Indrani, which are currently kept in his locker at a bank in Worli.

Following this application the judge directed special public prosecution Bharat Badami to file reply on behalf of CBI by Friday.

In the meantime the prosecution examined a waiter of the hotel where co-accused Sanjeev Khanna had stayed during the time when Sheena was murdered. The waiter identified Khanna as the person who stayed in their hotel.
