Mumbai: Commuters can now use the UTS mobile application to book an unreserved hardcopy of tickets for long distance trains to Nashik or Pune. Until now, commuters could get paper tickets only at counters, but since January 25 these tickets have been made available for commuters, which will save the effort taken by Mumbaikars to book the unreserved tickets at counters.

The ticket booked on the app can be printed via the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) that are placed at all stations including Nashik, Pune, Bhusaval etc. When commuters visit the application to book a ticket, they can choose either a paperless or a paper ticket. Upon selecting the paper option commuters can take a hardcopy by holding the ticket on the mobile screen over an ATVM machine at the station close to their residence and directly head to the station from where they are to board the train.

This feature was introduced after some passengers said that they would prefer taking a physical print out of the ticket as they might not be able to directly show the ticket on mobile if there is no network or the phone battery has dies.
