MSEDCL to adopt 2-way power supply

The Industrial consumers also have demanded for a 24-hours van, which work on faulty lines for all areas.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will use ring main technology for the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to provide uninterrupted power supply.

After the success of the pilot project, the technology will be used all over the state. Ring Main Unit (RMU) is a totally sealed, gas-insulated compact switchgear unit, which is a two-way power supplier. “Ring main technology will help give better services in that direction,” said an officer from MSEDCL.

Industrial consumers, who produce high revenue for MSEDCL, have demanded for power supply without interruption.

“We have accepted their demand and taken few steps. We have also stopped outage in industrial area in the state. Ring Main Technology is useful for two way power supply because if power supply of one side is interrupted then the supply from other side starts automatically,” the officer added.

This technology will be used in industrial area of the MMRDA and the PMRDA. After few months, the MSEDCL will review the technology and then decide further action.

The MSEDCL has been trying to sort all the problems of consumers regarding outage and other complaints related to services and Ring Main Unit technology is a part of this.

The Industrial consumers also have demanded for a 24-hours van, which work on faulty lines for all areas.
