Mumbai: Expect heavy rain in Mumbai over the next 24 hours, the weather department has forecast.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert on likely “heavy rain” in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts on Thursday as the intensity of rain increased since noon. It has also said that the intensity of rain is expected to remain higher till Sunday. The IMD has attributed this to fluctuations in the weather system along the Arabian Sea.

According to the Brihanmumbai Muni-cipal Corporation rainfall report, the city area recorded a spell of 27mm between 8.30 am and 5 pm on Thursday.  Heavy rainfall is expected between 8.30 am on Friday and 8.30 am on Saturday, said an IMD official.
