Mumbai: Waterlogging in the city has also affected schools and offices. Several schools in waterlogged areas informed parents to take their children home. Many office goers took to social media to share their rain woes along with their reasons to take a leave from work.

Two schools in Mulund were shut midway fearing traffic jams and waterlogging.

Uma Ugale, a parent who was awaiting a bus with her 12-year-old child said, “I dropped my child to school in the morning as it wasn’t raining heavily and at 12 pm I was informed that the children were being sent home due to heavy rains.”

Gopal Sharma International School in Powai also gave holiday to the students during the second half of the day owing to torrential rains.

“The roads in Powai were severely waterlogged. Fearing heavier rains till the evening, we decided to the shut the school after 1 pm,” said Megha Jadhav, one of the admin staff of the school. Brihanmumbai Muni-cipal Corporation (BMC) education committee stated that civic schools would remain open tomorrow.

“We have not received any circular from the state government and neither have decided to close the schools for tomorrow,” said a BMC official.
