Mumbai: Sameer Bhujbal, the nephew of former PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, has filed his bail application in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court. In the bail application, he has stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a chargesheet in the case a year ago and the agency does not require his custody anymore. He also claimed that for more than a year, he has been in judicial custody so he should be granted bail. Chhagan Bhujbal also had applied for bail on similar grounds on Thursday.

Sameer Bhujbal’s application stated that other accused, who are alleged beneficiaries of the Maharashtra Sadan project were never arrested and have been permitted to furnish bail bonds. The application also said that all the officers, who were in charge and responsible for the valuation of the incentive FSI to be released to the developer, were never arrested and even got anticipatory bail.

He said the case against him is only document-based and all documents have been recovered so the records are neither likely to be tampered nor any records have been tampered till date. Due to the custody, he has  been unable to defend his case effectively or seek legal opinion. He assured the court that he would abide by all conditions of the court and would remain present before the investigation agency and court when required.
