Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (Mhada) Mumbai Board lottery will be for 1,194 houses this year, which will be held before Diwali. In addition to homes, 108 commercial galas will also be up for the lottery.

The homes are located in areas including Pratiksha Nagar, Sion, Tunga Powai, Mankhurd, Borivali, Goregaon etc. A majority of the houses are for low-income groups and range between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.

Prices of flats to be sold under the high-income group category are yet to be determined.

Going by current reservations, close to 500 houses will be for the economically weaker sections (EWS) as against last year when only eight houses were set aside for the section. The houses under this section are located in areas such as Antop hill in Wadala, Pratiksha Nagar in Sion, PMGP in Mankhurd, etc.

Uday Samant, newly-appointed president of Mhada, said, “The lottery will be held before Diwali. We are in the process of finalising prices for some of the houses. Within 10-15 days, the advertisement will be released announcing the lottery.”

The lottery will offer approximately 300 homes under the low income group (LIG) category, located at places such as Gavanpada in Mulund and Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon.

According to officials, the figures of homes may change since the final list is still under preparation. The high income group (HIG) homes will be located in Pant Nagar and Sahakar Nagar. Meanwhile, the prices of commercial shops will start at Rs 21 lakh and could stretch up to over Rs 80-90 lakhs, depending upon their locations.

The shops are located in New Hindu Mill in Mazgaon, Pratiksha Nagar, Turbhe Mandal in Mankhurd, Swadeshi Mill in Kurla, Tunga Powai, Gavanpada, Majasawadi in Jogeshwari, Shastri Nagar and Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon etc.
