E-charging stns on e-way soon
Mumbai: An electric charging system for e-vehicles will be available on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg. The Maharashtra State Road De-velopment Corpor-ation and MEDCL are jointly working on this project.
According to a MSEDCL officer, the first phase will see six e-charging stations on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, with three on either side of the Expressway.
On the side towards Pune, e-charging stations will be set up at Sanjegao and Uruse while on the side towards Mumbai, e-charging stations will be set up at Dahowadi and near Pooja Hotel. At present, there will only be one plug at each e-charging station.
The MSEDCL officer said that it takes 30 to 45 minutes to fully charge one car. “There are very few e-cars on the road. If the number of cars increases, the MSEDCL will install more e-charging stations and will also increase the number of plugs.”
The MSEDCL and MSRDC have decided to set up a total 50 e-charging stations across the state. Apart from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, a letter of intent has been submitted for e-charging stations at 10 locations.
Meanwhile, a MSRDC officer said that the e-charging facility will be made available on the Expressway after every 50km. The MSEDCL is investing a total one crore fifty lakh to support the National Mobility Mission.
