Congress to move Bombay HC if banks not punished in waiver issue

It seems that now battle of loan waiver will reach to the court of law soon.

Mumbai: Congress is in an aggressive mood over the farmers’ loan waiver issue and is even thinking of approaching the high court because government is not taking any legal action against the banks that supplied wrong information about farmer’s accounts.

Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan told The Asian Age, “The government is not giving information about the loan waiver and is not even taking any action against banks that have given wrong information of loan accounts.” Mr Chavan has raised many issues about waiver scheme. Referring to CM Devendra Fadnavis’s claim he said Union Bank earlier sent information about 6.30 lakh accounts and later reduced that figure to 1.30 lakh and he had also written a letter to RBI governor Urjit Patel and the chairman of Union Bank over this issue a month ago but they didn’t reply.

Mr Chavan said, “Public money is being utilised for waiver, and Fadnavis who talks about transparency is not giving information. If the government does not takes any action then Congress has no option left but to approach high court.” It seems that now battle of loan waiver will reach to the court of law soon.
