Woman hatches plot to kill former lover
Mumbai: The Kasarwadvali police arrested a 40-year-old housewife and her boyfriend, who allegedly hatched and executed a plan to kill her ex-boyfriend, who died on Wednesday after being hit in a staged car accident on December 18. The woman’s current boyfriend allegedly caused fatal injuries to her ex-boyfriend by ramming into him when he was taking a walk on Monday around 5.30 am.
Police said the woman had allegedly asked her boyfriend to kill the victim as he had threatened to tell her husband about her extra-marital affairs. The victim succumbed to his head injuries at JJ Hospital where he was admitted. On checking the CCTV footage of the accident, the police discovered that it had been deliberately caused.
On December 18, Ramji Sharma (46), the victim, was on his morning walk, when the accused, identified as Jaiprakash Chauhan (38), ran the car over him and fled from the spot. According to police officials, he was allegedly wearing a scarf on his face while driving the car. The victim's bother told the police that it might be not accident because Ramji's ex- girlfriend was also taking a morning walk on the same road when the accident took place.
Kasarvadvali police station, Senior PI, D. S Dhole said, "After Sharma's brother's statement, we checked all CCTV footage and we found that the car had deliberately dashed the victim. We immediately started searching for the accused and arrested him on 25 December from his house in Thane."
Dhole said, "We have recovered the car and the accused confessed to the crime. The married woman, Sumari Yadav (40), had been involved with the deceased in an extra-marital affair. She broke off with him and started dating Chauhan. Sharma then started blackmailing her, telling her that he would tell her husband about their affair.
