The court has asked the state to file its reply in this regard.

Mumbai: A public interest litigation (PIL) seeking implementation of a mandatory clause of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act came up for hearing in the Bombay high court.

The petitioner – a NGO Rahat – pointed out lapses on the part of the state and manufacturers of vehicles in installing speed governors in all commercial and M1 class vehicles. According to the petitioner, these lapses have resulted in thousands of deaths due to speeding.
