Mumbai: The relatives of Prithvi Wavhal (17), who hanged himself to death on Sunday afternoon after failing in two subjects — chemistry and mathematics — in CBSE class 12 exams, will seek re-checking of his exam papers, citing his bright academic record.
His relatives told The Asian Age that Prithvi, a student of Ryan International School, was a “bright student” and had scored around 90 per cent in his Class 10 exams and did well in the class 12 semester exams too. The relatives are trying to figure out how he flunked the two subjects, which eventually led him to end his life.
Prithvi’s aunt, who requested anonymity, told The Asian Age, “Prithvi wanted to pursue a career in animation, and his parents were also supportive of his career choice. Prithvi was good at studies, and the result was a shocker for all of us. He had been securing distinction in his exams until now. We want to get the papers rechecked to find what happened.”
Prithvi’s father Sachin and mother Sanjana are in a state of shock and were not in a condition to react on the sudden loss of their son. The family laid Prithvi to rest on Monday, and his ashes were taken to Chaityabhoomi in Dadar. The couple has a daughter Sania, who studies in the Sadhu Vaswani International School.
The Sanpada police, meanwhile, said that they are still looking into the details of the incident. The family was in Malvan when they were informed about the incident.
