MUMBAI: In a bid to teach commuter safety rules, the Central Railway (CR) has made a short film starring legend Amitabh Bachchan to help increase awareness about foot overbridges (FOB). On Sunday, the actor shot for the public awareness campaign ‘Ek Safar Railway Ke Sath’ at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

In the soon-to-be-released film, Mr Bachchan appeals to passengers to follow the safety rules and not to cross rail tracks and always use the FOB.

D.K. Sharma, general manager of CR said that Mr Bachchan had also reminded those commuters who cross railway tracks that someone is waiting for them at home.

Addressing the media at CR headquarters in CSMT on Tuesday, Mr Sharma said a few short films featuring renowned film personalities Padma Shri Naseeruddin Shah, Padma Shri Sisir Mishra and Shri Nishikant Kamat have been screened on social media.

Chief public relation officer (CPRO) of CR, Sunil Udasi said Mr Bachchan was very punctual for the shoot. “He came 35 minutes before schedule. He went through the script of the short film on the laptop himself,” he said.

Mr Udasi said that the actor was mesmerised by the iconic building. “Mr Bachchan also shared his memories associated with railway footover bridge at Allahabad, when he was a child,” he added.

CPRO said Mr Bachchan is a thorough professional and down-to-earth gentleman.
