DJ's killer held, 2 others absconding
Mumbai: The Thane (rural) police has arrested the man who on Saturday night allegedly killed Novesh Bhujanga Shetty (26), who worked as a disc jockey in Bengaluru.
Shetty had come to Mumbai to celebrate Diwali with his parents who live in Dahisar. Shetty was killed outside a bar in Kashimira bar when tried to intervene in a drunken brawl among friends.
The police arrested the main accused, Sujit Mishra, who had attacked Shetty with a glass shard, but two co-accused are still on the run. Mishra and his accomplices allegedly murdered Shetty during the wee hours on Friday. The assailants pierced Shetty’s neck with glass shards, killing him on the spot.
Based on a team tip-off, a team led by police inspector (Crime) Suresh Khedkar under the supervision of Kashimira police station in-charge, Vilas Sanap laid trap and arrested Mishra from Dahisar at around 8:30 pm on Saturday. Police said the deceased and accused knew each other and were at loggerheads on petty issues.
“We have nabbed the prime accused. His partners in-crime who seem to have fled the city will also be behind bars very soon” said Mr Khedkar. The district sessions court, Thane on Sunday remanded Mishra to police custody till November 6.
