Mumbai: The Mumbai police is yet to make any breakthrough in connection with the alleged theft of jewellery worth Rs 80 lakh from Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao’s Khar residence. The police have questioned three of her domestic helps to ascertain their role in the theft. Ms Rao’s relative filed a complaint about the theft with the Khar police last week.

“We are also examining CCTV footage of the house for clues about the alleged theft,” a police investigator said. “We have been interrogating three employees who have been working in Aamir Khan’s house for the past few months,” he added. The Asian Age attempted to contact Ms Rao via calls and a text message, but received no response.

According to Khar police officers, Ms Rao’s father was registered the case on November 25. A police investigator said, “Kiran Rao’s father came to us and narrated the incident. He said there was a diamond necklace along with a ring that she had kept in a cupboard. She was out for some official work for two days and Aamir Khan was not in the house because of the busy schedule he has for his upcoming movie Dangal. After Ms Rao came back from her work on November 22, she checked for the expensive belongings in her house and found her necklace worth Rs 65 lakh and finger ring worth Rs15 finger missing from the place.”

The police further said that Ms Rao then confronted every employee in her house, but none of them gave any fruitful answer. She then spoke to her family about the incident, after which her father took the lead to file a complaint. Following a first information report, a case has been registered under section 453 (theft in dwelling house, etc) of the Indian Penal Code.
