Metro-2B might skip deadline: MMRDA
Mumbai: Metro 2B might miss its deadline, emphasised Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in its notice to Simplex Infrastructure Limited, contractor of the project, owing to slow progress of work where the contractor has failed to attain targets set for completion of the project on time.
According to the notice, the contractor has achieved only 0.91 per cent financial progress as against expected 30 per cent. The financial progress determines expense on buying resources for the project. The Metro-2B is expected to be commissioned by December 2021.
“The speed with which you are working, it would be impossible to achieve the completion of project within stipulated period. The matter was communicated to your site team during each review, however there is no improvement in execution speed to achieve the completion in balance 19 months,” read a notice served by the authority to Simplex.
The authority also stressed that the contractor did not deploy resources in sufficient quantity. Further, the MMRDA warned that action would be initiated if the contractor does not catch up the speed by December 31.
The contractor received work order in January this year and received a traffic nod in May, however till now only 22 per cent of the project sites have been barricaded. The notice served on December 21 highlighted, the RMC plant has not been operationalised yet. Despite several remin-ders and emails, the Simplex remained una-vailable for a comment.
