MD accused of outraging woman's modesty, acquitted

Witnesses are not trustworthy and in the entire video accused had never seen forcibly outraging her modesty.

Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan magistrate court has acquitted Vijay Kumar Shirsath, who was working as managing director and deputy secretary, self-employment department of Mantralaya, in a case accusing him of outraging of the modesty of a woman for two years. After perusing documents and evidence, the court concluded that the prosecution had failed to prove the crime against Shirsath.

According to prosecution, Shirsath had threatened her to keep physical relations with him otherwise she will be sacked from her job. Further, he also assured her that if she agrees to his condition, she would receive monetary benefits from him. To arrest the accused red handed, the victim made a CD of the crime, which the court said is insufficient.

Applicant lawyer Z.M. Avhad argued that it is an example of black mailing accused for extracting money. Witnesses are not trustworthy and in the entire video accused had never seen forcibly outraging her modesty.

The court also accepted the submission and acquitted the accused.
