Mumbai: Film enthusiasts in the state will now get to watch Hrithik Roshan-starrer Super 30 at discounted rates.

The Devendra Fadnavis Cabinet on Tuesday decided to exempt the film —released on July 12 — from the state goods and service tax (GST).

According to state officials, the GST on the sale of the film’s tickets will not be collected from the viewers. Initially, the GST will be paid by the theatres. The theatres will later be reimbursed by the state government from the date of the government notification to December 31.

Super 30 is based on the life of Patna-based mathematician Anand Kumar. Mr Kumar is known for preparing underprivileged students for the entrance examination of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

“Super 30 gives a message that students from deprived categories can become successful if given proper guidance. The message needs to be spread to all sections of the society,” said a state official.

With his educational programme of the same name, Super 30, he has trained several students from poor social and financial backgrounds for the Joint Entrance Examination (JJE) and other examinations. A number of his students have excelled at these examinations.
