Around 19 people were evacuated from the chawl and shifted to a nearby school post the incident by the police and fire brigade.

The chawl, where the incident occurred, is close to Dyanganga School. As the Thane Municipal Corporation had declared the condition of the hillock as unsafe, 70 persons were shifted from there to the school.
