Mumbai: A BEST committee has objected to the launch of its official app, claiming it is far from complete. The BEST is to join forces with Google to be able to depict the real-time movement of buses on the app.

The BEST administration Friday made a presentation to committee members on the new app, which is expected to be launching in a few days.

However, committee members raised objections and demanded that an incomplete app should not be launched.

Committee member Sunil Ganacharya said, “As the app will not give the real-time location, which is the actual need of commuters, we have asked not to launch the app.”

According to the BEST administration, however, the app is 90 per cent complete.

While the agreement with Google is not yet in place, the formality will be fulfilled in the coming days.

At the committee meeting Friday, the committee also informed that the BEST would install digital indicators at 200 bus stops across the city to inform commuters the expected time of arrival of BEST buses.
