1 Duronto coach pulled off at 11th hour
One coach of the CST-Nagpur bound Duranto Express had to be recalled at the last minute before departure on Tuesday evening when a vital spring in the coach broke.
The train that departs from CST at 8.20 pm is considered to be one of the most punctual trains on the Central Railway (CR). But with three similar incidents last year, the mantle seems to be in jeopardy.
Officials said in such cases when coaches are pulled out of service at the last minute, they see into it that there are enough berths available to compensate the commuters. However, often that’s not the case, and lot of passengers are left in the lurch.
“Although we reimburse the money to the affected passengers, the problem is that their plans get disrupted,” said a railway official on the condition of anonymity.
In this case, nearly 87 passengers on Tuesday were lucky enough to find alternative accommodation since monsoon is considered to be a non-peak season in the railways.
In the previous instances, the confusion has lead to passenger missing the train as well causing dissatisfaction among the affected.
