Rahul Raj Singh’s father Harshwardhan Singh alias Pundit Singh also said that Pratyusha had informed them that she did not have cordial relationship with her parents and was going to send them a legal notice. The actor, popularly recognised by her screen name “Anandi” from the television show Balika Vadhu was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house on Friday.
Mr Singh, however, refused to comment on Pratyusha’s suicide and stated that a formal investigation will shed light on it but said she was very disturbed due to her financial status.
According to Mr Singh, on January 16 this year, Pratyusha had visited their house in Ranchi to discuss her marriage with Rahul. During her visit, Pratyusha had apparently told Mr Singh that she wanted to make an Aadhaar card for herself, after which he took her to the Aadhaar center where she gave her finger print, photograph etc. But, when the officials asked for a bank statement, Pratyusha submitted one in which her father was the first account holder and her mother was second and she was the third account holder. Mr Singh claimed that when he enquired about the matter, Pratyusha had said her parents keep and control her money and that she cannot withdraw money on her own.
Rahul’s father also claimed that Pratyusha had monetary problems, and she often used to complain that she does not have a single bank account on her name. Also, apparently two years ago, her family had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh in her name without informing her about it and was upset that she was supposed to pay it back. “Pratyusha would often wonder why her parents did this to her,” claimed Mr Singh.
When asked about the disappearance of Rahul after Pratyusha’s death, Mr Singh said, “Rahul called us around 5.30 pm to inform that Pratyusha is in the hospital as she had attempted suicide, and later he informed us that she is no more.” He further added, “We got scared as Rahul was sounding very depressed, so we told Rahul’s friends to take him away from the place otherwise he could have killed himself,” he stated.
Commenting about Rahul’s former girlfriends, Mr Singh said oth Rahul and Pratyusha were aware about each other’s past. Two months ago, when one of his ex-girlfriends had come to their house, spat on Rahul and assaulted Pratyusha, Rahul had called his father in Ranchi and informed that woman was crazy for him, since they had worked together, but Rahul had no feelings for her.
Actors stand by Pratyusha A few television actors including Kamya Punjabi held a press conference on Sunday in which they refuted the claims made by Rahul’s family that Pratyusha was running out of work and she had borrowed money. The actors said that she had constantly been working for several TV shows and never had any financial problems. Also, the actor’s friend Leena Dias said that a day before her death, she had called Leena at 3 am and said that she wanted to get out of the relationship.
