BJP seeks to boost its media ‘relations’
Claiming that media personalities do not like to be managed, the BJP’s national organisational general secretary Ramlal has instructed the party’s social media cell to address their role as ‘media relations’. “Do not call it media management; instead refer to it as media relations,” is what Mr Ramlal had advised the members during a meeting held at the city BJP headquarters at Vasant Smruit in Dadar on Monday.
A senior member of the state BJP’s social media cell, who was present at the meeting, said, “Mr Ramlal was speaking about how many journalists do not like the word management as it tends to project that they are being managed. In our party, we do not manage the media; we share a relation with them. Hence, we shouldn’t use the phrase ‘media management’.”
The meeting was held to discuss issues pertaining to the party. Another member of the social media cell said, “The meeting was held to mull over ways to increase the reach of the party on social media. The party has a strong presence on social media as compared to any other medium. Hence, Ramlalji spoke about how we can increase our mass base and rope in fence-sitters.”
Mr Ramlal even informed the social media cell members that every time he has felt that an important issue needs to be highlighted, he has directly called up editors.
