Despite dengue larvae having been found from actress Sushmita Sen’s house located in Bandra’s H West ward, a report published by BMC’s health department states zero cases of confirmed dengue having been detected in that ward. Similarly, the report states zero cases of confirmed dengue in the adjacent K West ward where actress Vidya Balan resides, who was recently down with dengue.

BMC’s executive health officer, Dr Padmaja Keskar, said, “Our report notes only confirmed dengue cases which show a positive result after the two prescribed tests for dengue. In ward H West, none of the cases were confirmed through NS1 and MAC ELISA test. So, we have not reported any of them in our list.”

“The NS1 test is usually conducted on the day a patient reports fever. The MAC ELISA test is used by doctors to confirm dengue. A dengue case is confirmed only when both test results are positive,” she added.

Meanwhile, civic officials confirmed that Balan was down with dengue while breeding sites were found in fellow actor and neighbour, Shahid Kapoor’s flat as well as in Sen’s flat. Both Kapoor and Sen were slapped with BMC notices after mosquito-breeding spots were found at their residences.

On September 16, BMC visited thousands of homes in the Bandra-Juhu belt, which is home to many Bollywood actors.
