The Mumbra police has registered a case against a local private medical practitioner for allegedly molesting a 40-year-old woman on Saturday afternoon when she approached him for getting her back-pain treated. The police is searching for the accused Dr H. Patil, who is absconding.

The woman had sought medical help after falling on a platform of the Mumbra suburban railway station while attempting to board a running train at around 2.30 pm on Saturday. During the consequent check-up, the doctor allegedly behaved inappropriately, said police inspector N.G. Chaudhary.

“On Saturday afternoon around 2:30 pm a lady who was trying to get into the running train fell down on the platform. She was experiencing back paining due to the fall, so a passenger on the platform suggested her to visit some doctor nearby to ascertain if injury is serious and if she requires immediate medical attention,” said Mr Chaudhary.

“As per the complaint, when the woman entered clinic the doctor was sleeping. When she woke him up the doctor allegedly called her inside the room and closed the door of his cabin,” Mr Chaudhary further said.

“He himself locked the door and started checking her. During check up he touched her inappropriately. At that time the woman asked him to stop it and leave her, but the doctor held her hand tightly and warned her to keep quite or else he would kill her with the knife,” the inspector said.

At that time, the woman heard the voice of a small girl from outside and gathered courage to shout out loud for help. The girl’s father, who was near the dispensary, heard her voice and called other people too to help her, Mr Chaudhary said. The doctor then opened the door and fled the place, the inspector said, adding that they would nab the accused soon.
