Flying burglar lands in Vasaipolice’s net
After Udta Punjab and A Flying Jatt, this could be a perfect script for the next Bollywood potboiler. The Vasai police has arrested a 32-year-old burglar, David Walmiki alias Karan, who apparently used to fly from Delhi to break into homes in Mumbai between 2005 and 2009. David, the ‘flying burglar’ was wanted since 2009 for various crimes, ranging from thefts to burglary in and around Nallasopara.
According to police, David owns a house in east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar. He has two wives, one in Delhi and the other in Kolkata. He hails from Uttar Pradesh but was staying in Delhi and has properties including land plots there. Police said that David is educated but for six years preceding 2011, he broke into houses in Nallasopara and later moved to Delhi. Police said that David’s Bhayander-based alleged accomplice, Firoze, Aka Ahemad Mukaram Husain (30) used to conduct reconnaissance of potential targets and inform David, who would then break into the houses.
Officials arrested David and Husain four days ago. During the investigation, police discovered that David had robbed 17 houses in the area. The police has recovered jewelleries worth Rs 16 lakh in connection with the cases related to him. He carried out burglary in Vasai-Virar from 2005 to 2009. Although, he moved to Delhi, David would fly down to Mumbai to break into homes and then fly back to Delhi with the stolen items. After receiving a tip off from another serial offender, the police laid a trap and arrested David in Bhayander on September 25. “We visited Bulandshahar and Delhi to recover the jewellery,” said an investigating officer.
