Fresh online process for FYJC seats no better

The restarted FYJC online process is proving to be a nightmare for students and parents as the online portal is not allowing them to register.

The restarted FYJC online process is proving to be a nightmare for students and parents as the online portal is not allowing them to register. Parents and students are being made to run from pillar to post, as the help centres are unable to provide a solution.

Following the high court order asking all government authorities involved in school and higher education to conduct admissions in a transparent and free and fair manner, the FYJC online process that went up to four rounds had to be restarted to accommodate students who had not registered for the previous online process.

As a result, the deputy director of education announced that a fresh round would be held for students from August 8 onwards.

The initiative was intended to include all students who had either not registered for the previous process or had submitted incomplete details as a result of which they were not included in the online admission process. Around 5,243 students are said to be able to benefit from this process. However, on Tuesday, some parents complained that the portal meant for filling up online details was inaccessible or did not permit them to fill up the option for colleges of their choice.

“We went to the help centres but were told that they had no control over the same and we had to fill up names of only those colleges that were available on the portal,” said Sushant, a student from Sion. A large number of students who had taken admission in the minority and management quotas are also in a fix as they had secured a seat in the college of their choice but now, while filling the form, the name of the college is not present. This is creating a major problem for them, as it would mean they would have to cancel their seat and take admission in the college that is allotted to them through the online admission process.

“We are aware that the students are facing some problems but we are working on getting it resolved. However, the names of some colleges are not present, as the seats they had have already been filled up. We will announce the list of students who are eligible on August 4,” said an official of the DYDE.
