Groom-to-be held in Juhu for harassing married woman
A 23-year-old man who was set to get married in a week’s time in his hometown Benaras, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly harassing a married woman near Juhu in Andheri (west).
According to the Juhu police, the arrested accused identified as Sumit Yadav is a resident of Kurla (west).
The incident took place when Yadav was walking towards the Vile Parle railway station and had reached Lalubhai park area of Andheri (west). He was walking on the Lalubhai road and the 36-year-old woman crossed him when he passed lewd comments.
The victim got scared and raised an alarm. “He made a comment on her body,” said a source.
An alert citizen passing by caught Yadav while the woman alerted the police control room on emergency number 100. A patrolling vehicle from the Juhu police was rushed to the spot and Yadav was nabbed at the spot and brought to the Juhu police station.
A police source said, “Yadav was pleading that he will get married in a week’s time. All preparations are done.
“His railway tickets are already booked and would have to be cancelled delaying the marriage related ceremonies.” Yadav was produced in a magistrate's court on Saturday where he was sent to judicial custody.
Senior police inspector, Sunil Ghosalkar of Juhu police station said, “He later received a bail after paying Rs 15,000.”
